Darbargadh Palace, is an iconic landmark of Rajkot, which was founded in 1610 by Thakore Saheb Vibhaji on the banks of the River Aji.
It held a prominent position in the Kathiawar–Saurashtra region from the medieval period to the British Raj, serving as the capital of the Saurashtra–Kathiawar region. Rajkot continues to be a vibrant cultural, social, educational, and industrial centre to this day—and is recognized as the world’s 7th fastest-growing city.
The Rajkot Rajya Foundation (RRF) has transformed Darbargadh Rajkot into a world-class museum which shall curate unique cultural experiences, tourism, and hospitality offerings. It shall also serve as a centre for heritage conservation and education, and as an axis for the cultural revival of Kathiawar–Saurashtra under the patronage of its founders, the Rajkot Royal Family.
Any individual or institution that shares this vision and upholds ethical, responsible heritage management practices shall be offered support, assistance, encouragement, and a platform to advance their cultural heritage revival initiatives.

The Rajkot Rajya Foundation (RRF) was established with a sacred mission: to preserve, protect, and promote the rich cultural and historical heritage of Rajkot and the greater Saurashtra region. As custodians of the Darbargadh, we are committed to ensuring that this architectural and cultural treasure continues to inspire generations to come.
Thereby inculcating a sense of belonging and Kathiawari pride among the people of Saurashtra and assisting them in re-establishing their unique Cultural Identity in current times.
